What an amazing woman Wanda was; always of good cheer, though this last illness really got her down. She had a kind word for everyone, whatever she said, you knew it was true. She did her best at everything and the books she put out were amazing. We have been landlords for nearly 40 years, Wanda has been with us for over 7 years. Wands was the best tenant we ever had, kind, caring, competent~the world is a darker place without her light. Rest in peace Dear Wanda, may your memory be always for a blessing

Wanda became my best friend in 8th grade and has always been there for me, I am truly saddened by her leaving this world she was such a great lady. Recently she supported me through my Mothers funeral and she was planning to come visit me this Summer in Virginia. I wish I could attend but I have just come down with Covid and am quarantined. Wanda was a well of encouragement that seemingly had no bottom. She was gracious enough to review 4 of my novels, and I was stunned and truly humbled by her comments of my ability as a writer and how my work captivated her. She went out of her way to help any writer within her circle, always seeking to support their efforts, and help them along the path of their dreams. She read the first 2 parts of a trilogy I've written. I completed the final part last year, and am editing it now. However, during the course of writing it, the thought often occurred to me that of those who would read it, I was anxious for her know its conclusion and her thoughts about it. I'm sad that I can't share that with her.

There are so many memories of my mom, I can’t even begin to imagine where to start. My mom was a simple person. It didn’t take much to please her and she didn’t need much to get by. For Christmas drawings I would always hope to get her as I knew she would always be happy with whatever she received. My mom was a no bs, straight up, tell it like it is person, but always tactfully and respectfully. We spent nearly every day together and if we weren’t in the same place, we spoke on the phone every day. My mom was everyone’s best friend. When I had to make calls to those close to her, at least 5 people cried saying “She was my best friend.” It was only in her death that I realized she was my best friend too. She cares about everyone, much more than herself. She used to reach out to everyone that was important to her just to make sure they were doing ok. My mom was always there for everyone. She didn’t have much, but she would give her last dollar to help anyone who needed it and has more times than I can count. She would always keep a few singles on her to give to the first homeless person she saw on the side of the road. She used to say “Maybe they’re an angel; we don’t know their story and you never know what a few dollars can do for someone.” My mom spent the last year and a half in excruciating pain, but she wouldn’t let it stop her from living her life. She was very stubborn and determined to keep on pushing forward. Most of you probably know she was an author. She always had a way of telling the best stories whether truth or fiction. Growing up, my mom always made sure my sister and I threw the best parties… most of which were slumber parties that would always end with my mom telling a bunch of ghost stories. Every time my mom would tell a story about her falling, which happened a lot throughout her life as gravity seemed to be a struggle for her, instead of saying “I fell,” she would describe it as “I catapulted 30 feet into the air and 20 feet across the room.” It would always leave us laughing. She loved making people smile. My mom was a God-fearing woman. She prayed before every meal no matter where she ate. In her final words to me through a voicemail, she said “You always make such a big deal about everything.” My takeaway from all of this is to let the little things go. Life is too short to worry about the little details that don’t really matter. Hold the people you love so close because it may be the last time you ever see them. And always end every conversation with a positive note and telling those close to you that you love them because it may be the last time you see them. Its only been just a few days, but I miss her every single moment of the day.

I only knew Wanda through my writing from this side of the pond (England), and only after she posted a glowing review on Amazon of one of my novels, which was extraordinary in its content and very generous. Now it makes me tear up when I read it and makes me so sad after hearing the news of her untimely death.

I personally found her to be very generous with her private time and we talked quite often last year about our likes, dislikes, and interests, but she never once mentioned she was ill. Brave lady. So it was a real shock to learn of her death at such an early age. But then, they say God takes the good ones first... and she was good. No, she was great. God rest her gentle soul and keep her safe always.
