Mary Louise Merkel, age 93, a long-time resident of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away on November 28, 2023 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights. She was born on February 22, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Lawrence and Mary Irvine.
Beloved Wife of the late Ralph Merkel. Dear Mother of Martha (Don) Hammer, Cynthia Merkel, Fred Merkel, Iretha (Robert) White, Sarah Merkel, and Laura (Douglas) Pauley. Cherished Grandmother of Kateri, Angela, Christine, Rebecca, Geneva, Felicia, and Douglas Jr. Great-Grandmother of Makayla, Lilly, Joaquin, Blake, Bobby, Brooke, Natalie, Mason, Emily, Alyssa, Selena, Annie, Bayley, and Luke.
Mary was active with many Madison Heights organizations, which included the District Schools, the Historical Society, the Citizens Observation Surveillance Team of the Madison Heights Police Reserves.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3rd from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday, December 4th at 11:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Burial will be held at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
