Isla Jones' Obituary
Isla Denise Jones, or “Woodchip” as she renamed herself, came to know complete peace on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 6:30 am, after a long battle with a rare kidney cancer. She went peacefully, cuddled by her mother and father. Isla had a great love of singing, animals, Barry Bagel’s, dancing, eating salty snacks, snuggling, playing in water, watching movies with friends, dressing up in costumes, not driving on the highway, finding all nearby water towers, picking berries, coming up with “great ideas” and all forms of make believe. Her large, wide set, sparkling blue eyes suggested her soul was much older than her four year-old body. It was not unheard of for Isla to comment on a situation much the same way a well educated 40 year-old would, “So Ms. So-and-So, how do you find your lunch today?”, often waiting to hear the response. Isla endured chemotherapy, radiation, daily shots, surgery, oral medications, and long hospital stays with strength, bravery, and grace. She forced overbearing nurses into the corner, while working over the kind nurses with a high pitch giggle and her large array of knock-knock jokes, several of which she had created herself. Her happy spirit provided calmness to those around her during the most difficult of times. Isla’s most significant accomplishment to date is bringing great joy and love to her parents, her sibling due in September, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends… all of which survive her. This imaginative, detail oriented, uniquely high voiced charmer will not be forgotten by those that had the gift of her love and the pleasure of her company. The parents ask that in her honor you give generously to a non-profit that serves the needs of children. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, April 2nd at 2 pm. The service will take place at Cobblestone Farm, 2781 Packard Road, Ann Arbor.
