Just found out about Bills passing so sorry for coming in late. Bill Olivich and I established a business relationship back in around 1990 when he came in the door of my insurance agency in Oxford. Actually Bill was already there before I arrived in 1990. I found out years later that the agent that proceeded me was Bills Elementary School teacher and so that was going to be a tough act to follow. Over the years Bill came and went but was very loyal and never ever considered leaving us even if we had a disagreement. He always came in usually a bundle of energy and always (usually) left us in a better frame of mind then before he came in. So here are some lessons for the younger ones and take always I learned about Bill over the years. He was consistent and disciplined in his work. The lawns never didn't get cut... the snow got moved... even the salt got applied as I can witness watching him hand spread salt in my parking lot when his salter broke down. He always said (mostly always) Please and Thank you. For some reason he called me "sir" all the time. I assume this was how he was raised and did this with other customers as well? He always had a good joke or comment to the team and generally people would feel better about his presence in the room. Consistent. Every time , cut, whip, edge, blow. Never left us unattended for years. Lesson for the young ones. You don't have to be a Dr. or a layer or anything fancy to be successful in life. Do like Bill did and be serious about what you do no matter what it is. Be like Bill and be consistant, hard working , dedicated to your craft... and then you too will have a good full life. Will miss you buddy. And dang am I gonna have to cut my lawn this year? Waiting Kaylon... your time has come.
I met lu and Bill working at S and M the corner store. Bill famous lines were “ what a deal! “. And where am I at? And kick me out of here lol. He loved music and going to concerts. He was always thinking of his wife, buying her pop and candy. He was a character and full of energy. He is going to be missed.
" waiting on you is like waiting on the great pumpkin". Just one of bills famous sayings. I have so many great memories with Billy. I worked with him when he needed an extra hand doing clean ups or snowplowing etc. However I also did a fair amount of mechanical repairs for him. If I did it for free it still cost him too much money. Bill took his work serious but also made it fun. He was like a big kid but with a huge heart. I remember how much he helped me when I was trying to start my own business. Of course he had to throw in some sarcasm with that. I had a nephew of mine jake work for him through a summer or two. He loved it. Still to this day he talks about Billy and how funny he was. Billy and and I had lots of good conversations at local coney restaurants. I got to know his beautiful wife and most of his family. Everyone was always a joy to be with. Just this morning on my way into work I was just remembering Billy and how awesome he was . I am so glad I got to be friends with him. I loved Bill like a brother. But to remain honest. There were days Bill drove me nuts! But looking back I wouldn't have changed anything. I love you brother.
I met Bill when he and Lu moved in next door. I was recently divorced and they invited me to all their family parties. Bill was a kind person never a bad word about anyone that I heard. One time I needed a strong hand to open the valve on my hot tub to drain it and Bill came down and helped with that. See you on the other side....
Bill, or as I called him, crazy bill was always wound lol. I've known Bill for quite a few years. Did many side jobs with him. Craziest was when he had me on a steel roof covered in ice, chopping ice dams off the eaves. He never thought twice to buy you dinner after helping him do anything. If you ever needed a laugh Bill was the guy to get that from. He will definitely be missed. My condolences to his beautiful wife Lu and everyone that was blessed to have known him.
Bill was a great friend of mine. I’ll miss having breakfasts with him at The Country Coney discussing the next great blizzard or commiserating over the one we just made it through.
