William Bach's Obituary
BACH, Rev. William H., 93. God’s Servant was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2008. Rev. Bach, most recently of Saginaw, formerly of Hazel Park, was pastor of First Baptist Church in Hazel Park for 33 years. He was born August 22, 1915 in Detroit.
After graduating from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago in 1941, he married Ruby Helen Hosking and moved to Saline, Michigan to begin his ministry at The Federated Church. He moved to Hazel Park in January, 1945 when he became the pastor of First Baptist Church. Rev. Bach was active in many community events and served on the Youth Protection Committee for many years. He devoted many hours to his congregation and his community. He was often referred to as “the pastor who served the whole community.”
After retirement in 1978, Rev. Bach and his wife moved to Bonaire, Netherland Antilles, ministering to the missionaries working for Trans World Radio. In 1980 the Bachs returned to Michigan where they ministered to many churches in the Detroit area and Saginaw.
Rev. Bach was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruby, in 2000. He is survived by his children, Bill and Esther Bach of Tampa, FL, and Glen and Nancie (Bach) Harper of Milford, CT, grandchildren: David and Lisa Bach of Spokane, WA; Joe and Suzanne (Bach) Cox of Tampa, FL, Brian and Tiffany Harper of New Albany, IN; and Karen (Harper) and Ezra Matychak of Woodhaven, NY, and great-grandchildren: Nicole, Kaelen and Bryan Bach of Spokane, WA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 23321 S. Chrysler Drive, Hazel Park, on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive visitors Friday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 8 PM at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 23919 John R, Hazel Park, Michigan, and 10-11AM Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bach Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church, Hazel Park, MI.
