Virtis Lee Chamblee, age 90 of Warren, Michigan passed away on November 12, 2016 at home. He was born on April 2, 1926 in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Beloved Husband of Betty for 59 years. Dear Father of Vickie Lynne Miska, Jeannie Ann (Bob) Gerard and Anita Gail (Shawn) Craig. Grandfather of Vanessa Lagene (fiancée Aaron Figueroa) Pilgrim, Ashley Blair (Michael) Zimni, Leah Marie Craig and Corey Michael Craig. Great-Grandfather of Jaelyn Alexa, Jacoby Lee, Jannah Mae and Sage Larae. Brother of Eirtis (Juanita) Chamblee, Addie Lee White and Creasey Mae (Willie) Richardson.
Virtis is predeceased by his loving parents, Charlie and Mae Chamblee and brothers, Castle and Alvin Chamblee.
Virtis served in the Army during WWII in Central Europe. He would spend free time golfing, bowling, fishing and gardening. A member of the Hazel Park Church of Christ where he maintained the grounds and buses for the church. He loved GOD very much and his church family. He was employed by General Motors as a skilled tradesman.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral will be held on Friday, November 18th beginning at 12:30 pm Instate followed by the 1:00 pm Service at the Hazel Park Church of Christ, 1123 E. Woodward Heights, Hazel Park, Michigan. Burial will take place at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan.
