Virginia Brashaw's Obituary
Virginia Genevie Brashaw, age 81. Heaven called home our wonderful mommy and friend to be with her Leo and Gary Boy on May 25, 2013. She was born May 23, 1932 in Hamtramck, MI to parents Joseph and Sophie Pisarski. Beloved wife of the late Leo. Loving mother of Sharon (Joseph) Petrow, Sandra (Scott) Martin, Gary Leo, Susan (Scot) Sharland, Leonard (Lorrie) Brashaw and Denise (Brian) Schutter. Dear grandmother of Joseph (Ryoko), James, Karen (Scott), Brent, Jillian, Brian, Ryan and Allen. Her grandkids referred to her as the “Best Shaker Maker”. Wonderful great-grandma to Liriya, Joshua and Justine. Her little “munchkins” as she called them. Dearest sister of Lorraine Badge and Shirley Szumski. Special sister-in-law of Helen Kaczynski and Dolores Brashaw. Adopted mother to many, especially our lil sister, Heidi (Bug) Koerber.
Virginia loved spending time with her abundance of family and friends. She was known as the Queen of Scrabble to many - a game she loved to play. Other favorites of hers were Polish music, Elvis Presley and Polish Poker she played with her very special friends, Bill and Marie Schutter.
As a cook she was superb. Her fruit bars, Kapusta, banana bread and homemade apple pie were the best in the land. Her caring, unselfish ways showed in all she did. Virginia was always giving and thinking of others before herself. Her generosity was what made her a one of a kind person. Mom “The Very Thought of You”, your compassion and beautiful smile will be deeply missed. You will live in our hearts forever. As Virginia would say, “Toodaloo until we meet again”.
Funeral services Saturday, 10:00 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Mass at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Warren, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
