Vera Panzica's Obituary
Vera Marie (Gueli) Panzica, a life-long resident of Hazel Park and St. Mary Magdalen parishioner, age 83 dies Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Cambridge East Nursing Home after battling bone –marrow cancer. She was born May 24, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan.
Mrs. Panzica was known for her love and compassion to everyone around her, for baking the best apple pies and for being willing to help wherever needed. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen parish, volunteering many hours to help with the church festival, funeral committee, nursing home outreach, adoration services, church cleaning team and all other church functions. She sang for many years with the church choir.
Mrs. Panzica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband Sam with whom she shared 59 years of marriage; her children, Lillian (Don) Erwin of Huntington Woods, Nick (Linda) Panzica of Ypsilanti, John (Debra) Panzica of Rochester Hills and Joseph Panzica of Hazel Park; grandchildren Nora (John) Kolar, Valerie Erwin, Loretta (Charles) Bradfield, Nicole, Melissa and Justin Panzica and her great-grandson Noah Kolar. She is also survived by her brother Nick (Gerri) Gueli and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Vincent (Elva) Gueli.
Visitation will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 23919 John R. Rd. in Hazel Park, Monday from 3-9pm with a rosary at 7pm. The funeral will be Tuesday with a 9:30am visitation until the time of Mass at 10am at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Hazel Park with Fr. Bede Louzon, OFM, Cap officiating. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Church Hall. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalen Church.
