As we're closing in on 3 years since Trail left us, I think of how he must have felt at the exact moment he realized there was something wrong. I don't care who you are, if you were engaging in illicit substances, it's not because you're trying to destroy yourself: It's because you want an escape and feeling good in the process.
I believe right after Christmas 2 years ago, he wanted to extend the positive feelings and decided to treat himself. Everyone does this regardless if it's a substance, alcohol, physical affection, etc. It's not his fault his breathing shut down. It's the person he bought it from. Trail thought he was getting one thing only to receive something 100x more potent. It's so so sad that he's gone. He was a loving son and older brother. He didn't deserve to leave us so soon. I wish he decided on just having a shot of whiskey instead of an untrusted substance. Ugh Christmas. For the rest of my life I won't think of happiness during this time of year. I will think of people like Trail who I wish can smile, be merry, and celebrate with family that loves him so much.
