Tracey Elizabeth Carter's Obituary
Tracey Carter, 50, passed away suddenly on March 10 after some recent health struggles.
She lived boldly, spoke her mind without hesitation, and believed deeply in fairness, equality, and standing up for what is right.
Tracey worked tirelessly for the Oakland County Friend of the Court for 25+ years. She took great pride in helping others during their most challenging times.
She was known for her strong spirit and unmistakable personality. She was a proud supporter of equality and progressive ideals, and she never shied away from expressing her views. She always encouraged others to stand strong in their own beliefs.
Beyond her outspoken nature, Tracey had a playful and colorful side that reflected the joy she carried within. She loved rainbows and unicorns, symbols that captured her belief in hope, individuality, and a brighter world where everyone belongs.
Tracey loved live music, being outdoors, kayaking, shopping and especially vacations. She was recognized for her unique style that reflected her personality so perfectly!
Above all else, Tracey was a devoted mother. She is survived by her beloved son, Alex, 30, who was the center of her world and the person she was most proud of. Her love for him was constant, fierce, and unconditional. She is also survived by her loving mom Jean, Aunt Sharon (Rock), Uncle David and Uncle Al, many cousins and very special friends, babies of friends and babies of babies of friends. Tracey rarely met a person or animal she didn’t love. She was a second mom and honorary grandma to so many!
Tracey leaves behind memories of laughter, spirited conversations, and a life lived unapologetically.
A private gathering to celebrate Tracey’s life will be held by family and close friends at a later date.
Those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to stand up for what they believe in, support equality for all people, and bring a little more sparkle and color into the world—just as Tracey always did.
