林廷圻先生因病于2024年1月23日在美国密西根与世长辞。享年90岁。 林廷圻先生，教授，博士导师，出生于1934年江苏省常州市。1955年毕业于交通大学机械系并留校任教。1957年西迁至西安交通大学机械机切教研室工作。后转到液压教研室从事教学，科研，指导硕士博士研究生工作，直到2004年7月退休。期间在多项专业委员会中任理事，组长，编委，出版编辑了多本液压行业优秀教材，并荣获多项科研成果，为中国高等教育和液压传动领域的发展做出了积极贡献。先生一生为人师表，博学多才，治学严谨，教书育人，桃李满天下。同时先生又是一位关爱贴心的丈夫，慈爱的父亲和祖父。让我们一起纪念林廷圻先生给这个世界带来丰富美好，令人难忘的一生。

Professor Tingqi Lin, age 90 of Madison Heights, MI passed away at Beaumont Hospital on January, 23, 2024 with his love ones by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Yuhua Zhang, son Weizhong Lin, daughter Hui Lin, four grandchildren Alexzander Lin, Rhys Yu, Kevin Linfei Shi, Jonathan Yuxuan Shi and sister Wenshan Lin. Born in 1934 in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, Professor Lin embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned decades of dedication to education and research. In 1955, he graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Jiao Tong University and worked as a devoted faculty member.
In 1957, he relocated to Xi'an Jiao Tong University, engaging in teaching, research, and mentoring master's and doctoral students until his retirement in July 2004.
Throughout his career, Professor Lin served on multiple professional committees, assuming roles as director, group leader, and editor. He authored and edited numerous outstanding textbooks in the field of hydraulics and mechanical engineering, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. His research endeavors garnered several awards, reflecting his commitment to advancing Chinese higher education and hydraulic and mechanical control field.
A paragon of scholarship, Professor Lin was known for his rigorous academic approach, nurturing countless minds in his role as an educator. His influence extended beyond academia, as he also embraced the roles of a loving devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
