Timothy Franklin Vancil's Obituary
Timothy Franklin Vancil, age 81, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024. Born on September 22, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, Tim was a cherished husband, father, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tim grew up in Madison Heights and graduated from Lamphere High School in 1961. He went on to attend Michigan Christian College, earning an associate degree and finding joy as a member of the Michigan Christian Youth Chorus. His time in the chorus, where he toured and performed, remained a highlight of his life.
Tim began his career at Chrysler as a paint sprayer before moving to General Motors, where he worked for thirty years until his retirement. Known for his problem-solving skills and dedication, Tim rose to the rank of journeyman electrician, earning recognition and awards for his innovative cost-saving ideas.
A man of many talents and interests, Tim loved gardening, woodworking, and traveling. He spent many happy hours planting flowers and creating intricate wood carvings. Tim was also an avid hunter and enjoyed annual motorcycle trips with his brother. His passion for life extended to his faith, as he was a devoted member of the Royal Oak Church of Christ, where he served in various roles over the years.
Surviving cancer three times and facing heart issues later in life, Tim's resilience and commitment to helping others never waned. His family and friends admired his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and dry sense of humor. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer support, embodying the spirit of selflessness.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, and his son, Eric. He was a devoted husband and father who placed his family's needs above his own, and his love and dedication will be remembered forever.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held at the Royal Oak Church Of Christ,, 115 S. Campbell Road, Royal Oak, MI. 48067, on May 28, 2024 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Tim's memory.
Timothy Franklin Vancil touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. His legacy of love, faith, and selfless service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
