Terry Wayne Pirkola's Obituary
Terry Wayne Pirkola, age 71 of Hazel Park passed away on August 4, 2021 peacefully at home after a long, hard fight with a chronic illness. He was born on May 21, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to Waino and Gladys Pirkola.
Beloved Husband of Mary Pirkola for almost 50 years. Dear Father of Katrina Marie (Bryan Wakeford) Pirkola and Nicole Elizabeth (Richard) Beck. Loving Grandfather of Kara, Nickolas, Madison, Cailen, Nolan, Leon, Gage and Adelyn. Great-Grandfather of Elias. Brother of Joe (Beatrice) Bolton. Loving uncle to many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Terry worked for Ford Motor Company as a Transmission Inspector. He was a music lover and self taught bass player. He started playing in bands as a young teenager.
He loved vacationing with family on Northern Michigan Lakes. He enjoyed photography, golfing, bowling, softball, and cribbage. He was known for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor.
He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the conflict in Vietnam.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18th with the family hour from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and friends may visit from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and a Sharing of Memories service on Thursday, August 19th at 11:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
