Stanley Leon Stepowski's Obituary
Stanley Leon Stepowski, age 93, of Royal Oak, MI peacefully entered his heavenly home on Friday, February 5, 2021. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dolores (Skrzyniarz) Stepowski and beloved daughter Marie (Robert) Cicci. Dear brother of Florence (Edwin) Stockman; Loving father of Norine (Thomas) Fox, Deborah (Steven) Pinto, Jaclyn (Richard) Leidal, Lorraine (Joseph) Daly, James (Margaret) Stepowski and Thomas Stepowski; Proud grandfather of Paul Fox, Anne (Eric) Gray, Jessica (Taylor) Laug, Andrew (Vanessa) Pinto, Ryan Pinto, Michael (Jenny) Dow,Christopher (Ashley) Leidal, Adam Leidal, Alex Leidal, Robert (Jessica) Daly, James (Sydney) Daly; and great-grandfather of Nora and Tess Dow, Griffin and Maverick Leidal, Walker Laug, Violet Gray and Emmett Daly.
Stanley grew up in Detroit, MI and after graduating from Pershing High School in 1946 , enlisted in the United States Army. He was a Military Police Officer who served in the United States Army of Occupation stationed in Tokyo, Japan.
In 1951 Stanley married Dolores Skrzyniarz in St. Louis the King Catholic Church and a few years later they moved to Royal Oak, MI where they raised seven children and where Stanley lived for the rest of his life. In 1955 he and Dolores joined the parish of St. Mary Magdalen where his children attended elementary school. Stanley served on the school’s bus association and he and Dolores served as Eucharistic Ministers. Stanley had been a member of St. Mary Magdalen for 65 years.
Stanley supported his family by working in the automobile industry. He was a tool and die engineer by trade and was self-taught without a formal degree. Several of his designs were used in production at Ferndale Fastener, a division of Ring Screw Works, the company he retired from in 1993 after many years of hard work.
Stanley enjoyed DIY home projects, wood crafting, photography, and even paper crafting. He kept his mind sharp by reading and working Sudoku puzzles, collecting quotes, and was a master story teller. Even in his 90s he worked out regularly at his cardiac rehab center. He enjoyed traveling especially by car. He was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and U of M football. But most of all, he loved just hanging out with his family.
Stanley was a loving and fun family man. He was friendly, personable, very witty and had many friends and acquaintances. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block North of 13 Mile Road, West side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 13th, 10:30 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Hazel Park, Michigan. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township, Michigan.
