Skip K. Layne's Obituary
SKIP K. LAYNE, age 52, of Madison Heights, passed away on June 30, 2014 at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital - Oakland Center, Madison Heights, Michigan. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 31, 1961.
Husband of the Late Jessie Layne (2010). Father of Dianna Evans, April Holder, Angela Layne, Stephanie Dygert, Thomas Holder, Amber Layne, Amanda Layne, Crystal Layne and the Late Skip Layne Jr. Loving Grandfather of Destiny, Blake, Mark and Mason.
Skip was a master mechanic and was currently attending his first year of college at the age of 52. He was a hardworking man who was employed by the City of Detroit (D-Dot) for 20 years. He enjoyed rebuilding cars and taking care of his family. Family and friends will miss his life lessons, his humor, conversations about cars, road trips, his stories and sitting on the porch drinking coffee with him. They will also miss his encouraging phrase “Hang In There”.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 7th, 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the Funeral Service, Tuesday, July 8th, 11:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, Hazel Park Chapel (23919 John R Road). Burial to take place in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
