Grandma Ruth was a strong, wonderful, hip lady. My 9 month old daughter; Lilly, has Ruth's mouth profile. Often when she is sideways looking off toward someone or something else, I am reminded of Ruth. She has some of the cutest "smirks" that I often saw Grandma Ruth doing in my lifetime.
My greatest memories of Ruth were when I was young and she used to take me to gymnastics, or we'd take a bus around town. Good Times!
I also remember all our times out at the beach in Massachusetts. Boy could she walk FAST!!! She was a speed walker, before speed walking was a popular sport!
Grandma even surprised me one day when I was home from college for Easter in 1994 and she saw that I was "roller blading". When I came in, she was intreiged by the roller blades (which she thought were similar to roller skates) and she asked if she could try them out. I said "Sure!" excitedly and helped her into the roller blades. She took a few strides (with my support) said they were pretty nice, but she was so wobbly on the "new-age-skates", that we all decided a few strides was good enough to say "she tried them". It was a blast to see how eager she was to try new things, living life to its fullest!
I love you Grandma! I'll miss you dearly. But you'll always remain vivrant, beautiful, & brilliant in my heart & memories!
Love, Erika
