My condolences. I have great memories of Roy. if any of you on here was an out-of-control teenager in the 1980s like I was and you might have had some of the same experiences with Roy. Roy was a good man, instead of taking you to jail Roy would either set you straight and let you go depending on what you've done or he put you in the car and take you home to your mother and let your mother set you straight. Many times Roy would give me good advice even though I was out of control. I really liked Roy. When you have a memorial service please let me know I would like to attend and pay my respects. please have somebody post the memorial service on Facebook
Best regards

I was first introduced to Roy in 1980 at Holiday Inn in Hazel Park in the hotel restaurant. He was having a morning cup of coffee with our General Manager at that time. Of course he was a policeman in Hazel Park too and always made the time to check in with us to see if everything was alright and if we needed any assistance on his rounds.
I have to say upon meeting him for the first time I was very impressed by him. As time went on and I seen him more times making his daily rounds checking on the local businesses I realized what a kind and caring man Roy really was. He always made himself available to help others.
He was always professional in his job but at the same time you could see in his eyes what a very kind and caring man was wearing that police uniform.
A few years later I met Roy's Beautiful wife Marilyn and their beautiful daughter Gina. Well right away I could see what a wonderful woman Roy had to come home to. Marilyn is such a beautiful woman I came to find not only outside but inside her heart as well.
Roy will be missed by so many people like myself who thought he was the greatest Hazel Park Cop ever.
God Bless Roy, Marilyn, Gina, David, and all their Grandkids and Great Grandkids.
With all of my love, Cindy M Dooge
May you be eating all your favorites now Dad 💔😢💔😢
I remember growing up on Maple Lane in Hazel Park. We would stop by his mother house and talked to her . My grandparents had a parking lot for the race track. Then by the time I came to live with my dad it was a garden. I remember seeing Roy at Brayz Hamburgers. He always looked out for my dad. My dad was Donald Burgess and he was blind . He walked all over Hazel Park . Roy will be missed. God Bless his family
I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up down the street from him. Roy always watched out for me, and was always kind! He will be missed. All of you will be in my thoughts & prayers.
Roy was a great friend to my mother Mavis. He never let you down when he said he would do something and always gave great advice to me. He had joked with me once at Brays that I had high class coming to his restaurant. He is missed by the Moore family as a friend.
Roy,
You will be missed by so many. When we first met, I was only 2 1/2 years old. You always told me how I saved your life by being a little brat swinging on the porch rail even though I was told many times I could not do that. I went over cracking my head open. You were such an huge influence on me growing up. We have a very special bond that is proborly hard for others to understand. But we know and I am so thankful to have met you that day. I have the scar on my forehead that reminds me of you everytime I see it. I will miss you so much. I will think of you everytime I see my scar. ♡♡♡♡

The memory I have of Roy is he would come to our house and get a cup of coffee. He always called my father George Greene preacher man. Roy was the best officer he treated you with respect and played with the kids, like tell them to run and he would clock their speed. He will be missed. So sorry for your loss.
My youngest brother, Ron Jones, just called that your husband, father, grandfather had passed away. My memory goes back over a half-century ago. My family (Joneses) lived across the street from the Dickens on Maple Lane, Hazel Park. Brydie and my mother were good friends because they shared a lifestyle since both came from the South. My brothers(Butch,Jimmy and Ronnie) and my sister(Sandy) were friends with the Dickens' children. I was in the same grade as Roy and remember him as a good friend through about the 11th grade at Hazel Park High School. My brothers, sister and me shared many good times together way back in the 50's. My sympathy to his wife and family members. God bless each of you.
