Robert A. Slivatz's Obituary
Robert A. Slivatz aka Scotty, age 73 of Richmond, Michigan passed away on January 6, 2024 at McLaren Macomb, Mt. Clemens, Michigan. He was born on May 29, 1950 in Highland Park, Michigan to Albert and Lois Slivatz.
He graduated from St. James High School in Ferndale, Michigan in 1968. He entered the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne and U. S. Special Forces (Green Berets) from 1968 to 1971. He became a Detroit Police Officer in 1971 and was duty disabled in 1977. Bob attended Wayne State University until his health wouldn’t permit.
In 1974 he married Lynn Vaillancourt. They would have celebrated 50 years on June 28, 2024.
Although he was in ill health, Bob stayed as active as possible being a member of the 82nd Airborne and 101st Airborne Associations and the VFW. He founded Chapter LV in the Michigan Special Forces Association. Bob was an ordained Christian Minister, a bass voice in the St. Kieran Church Choir, played guitar and sang in 2 bands and authored 3 books.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn and a brother, Dan. Predeceased by his parents, Al and Lois and a brother, Mike. He also leaves behind loving sisters and brothers-in-law. He will be very missed by so many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12th from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Military Service at 7:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 13th beginning at 9:30 am – Instate followed by the 10:00 am Mass at St. Kieran Church, 53600 Mound Road, Shelby Township, Michigan.
