Robert Thomas Scott's Obituary
Robert Thomas Scott, age 84 of Lake Isabella, Michigan and formerly of Hazel Park, Michigan passed away on March 15, 2024 in Midland, Michigan. Bob was born on September 30, 1939 in Bad Axe, Michigan.
Beloved Husband of Beverly Anne (Campbell) Scott. They were married in Ferndale, Michigan on April 25, 1964. Loving Father of Robert C. Scott (Arin), Heather A. Henley (Larry) and Holly L. Gutierrez (Brock). Grandfather of Alex Dunlap (Cara), Jodi Hays (Tyler), Izabelle Gutierrez, Janelle Henley, Logan Scott, Kendall Scott and Bode Gutierrez. Great-Grandfather of Henley K. Hays and Isla R. Dunlap.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, Earl Ray and Dove Fannie (Sageman) Scott.
Robert was a licensed Funeral Director since 1964 having served communities through MacAlpine, Orlich, Spiller-Spitler and finally Ashely-Scott Funeral Home in Hazel Park.
A member of the Masonic Lodge, he was initiated and raised in the Third Degree in 1963. Robert was affiliated with Hazel Park # 570, Wabon # 305 Mount Pleasant and James A. Cliff, # 424 Weidman, Michigan. He served in the capacity of Worshipful Master, Chaplain and on the Board of General Purposes. Robert received many Masonic Awards including two time Lodge Mason of the Year, two time District Mason of the Year, Walt Wheeler Ritualistic Pin, 60 year membership pin, and Lifetime Membership.
His other accomplishments include Moslem Shrine Chaplain for 19 years, Scottish Rite Bodies – Valleys of Detroit, Hazel Park Lions Club Past President (2 times), School Board Member - Hazel Park and Chippewa Hills School Districts for 38 years, Hazel Park Planning Commission, Athletic Booster for Hazel Park Schools and a member of the St. Andrews Scottish Pipe Band in his younger years.
Bob attended Ferris State University and graduated from Alma College in 1961, and participated in the Marching and Concert Bands at Alma College. He then attended Wayne State Mortuary School in 1962. Bob also served in the Army National Guard as a Medical Corpsman.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19th from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Shriners Walk Through at 6:30 pm followed by a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm At Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial with a graveside service at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak, Michigan.
