Richard Charles VandenBossche, age 91, a 42 year resident of Dryden, Michigan passed away on August 19, 2023 in the home he built with his own two hands. He was born on December 23, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Jerome and Helen VandenBossche.
Beloved Husband of Peggy Sue VandenBossche. Dear Father of Michael (Denise) VandenBossche, Charles (Kelly) VandenBossche, Catherine (Mark) Sinning, Linda (Dan) Walter, pre-deceased by his daughter, Diane (surviving Tom) Helm, Brian (Wendy) Lassiter, James (Donna) Lassiter and pre deceased by Todd Lassiter. Grandfather of Courtney, Shanna, Amanda, April, Nichole, Rachel, Laura, Eric, Ryan, Sarah, Kristin, Brian, Jr. Great-Grandfather of Emilia, Oliver, Austin, Lennox, Aiden, Cora, Cuba, Eliana, Sophia, Oakley, Vincent and Josie. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Germaine Traczyk and Harold VandenBossche.
Richard worked for General Motors for 28 years as a Manufacturing Engineer. He retired in 1987. He served in the U. S. Army at the end of the Korean Conflict from February 1952 to August 1961.
He graduated in 1950 from Catholic Central where he played hockey and participated in speed skating. He was a member of the VFW. His hobbies included building, bowling, artistry, sculpting, fishing, traveling, playing chess and leaded glass. He enjoyed German chocolate cake and Moose Trax ice cream.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25th from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:30 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
