I have always appreciated the words written by Emerson...about half way through his TO SUCCEED poem he says these words;
...to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived -- this is, to have succeeded.
Many lives breathed easier because of him. Richard was always loved and will always be remembered by our family!

We are so sad to hear about Dick's passing. I was very fortunate to be able to talk with Dick back in January....He was a good friend and GM co-worker.....we had many good times working the concessions at the Pontiac Silverdome.

i think how much richard liked playing baseball . i met him years later. i was involved with the special olympics and my girlfriend at the time had started xmas parties for the special olympic citizens the party got so big she coundn't handle it! she worked at the general motors tech center and she asked the gm mens club president if they would like to take it over !!i believe richard was president at the time,he said they where looking for something worth while to do, turned over her project of 7 years or so to gm mens club and that's when i got to see richard again !! he was always a nice guy !!!!!

My sincere sympathies to the family and friends. I have had the honor to work with Dick at the State Soccer tournaments for over 20 years. Dick was always such a gentleman, never would he let us carry anything. My heart is sad and I I send prayers. Peace be with you. Thank you Dick for being such a treasure.

For my 10 years with Special Olympics, Dick was the main contact with the GM Men's club. I looked forward to the soccer tournament more than any other I worked with because Dick made it fun, not work. He now has the right to look down and feel proud about what he has accomplished. My sincere sympathies to his family. Special Olympics will miss a tireless worker and I will miss a friend.
