Richard Leon Clark, age 88 of Madison Heights, Michigan passed away on April 8, 2024 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan.
Beloved Husband of the late Lois Clark (Cromie). They were married on November 29, 1958. Preceded in death by daughter Pamela Purta, grandson John Purta, Parents Lavern and Marguerite Clark (Rupp), Brothers Donald and Norman Clark and Brothers-in-law Joe Bolton, Thomas Miller and Thomas Cromie.
Father of Denise (Kenneth) McCarthy and Richard (Terri) Clark. Special Grandfather “Pop” of Matthew (Diane) McCarthy, Kristin (Jason) Affeldt, Kelli (Ryan) Vallone, Ryan (Taylor) Clark, Dean (Ashley) Clark, Katie Clark. Great-Grandfather “Pop” of Pamela Purta, Ayden, Chloe, Harper Affeldt, Chase, Rheagan, Sutton, Rylan Vallone, Teagan, Maeve, Rowan McCarthy and Lucy Clark. Brother of Beatrice Bolton and Karen (David) Aldred. Survived by his Sisters-in-law Robin Kim (Frank) and Carol, and a brother-in-law Douglas (Laureen) Miller. Uncle of many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
Richard was born in Detroit and grew up in Hazel Park. Went to Cooley High School. He was an Airman First Class and served during the Korean War. Richard served the City of Madison Heights where he and Lois raised their three children. He was Proud to have been on the Police Reserve for over 20 years. He was a member of the FOP, Probation officer Operation ID, City Councilman, Mayor Pro-Tem, and member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Richard loved spending time at his second home in Houghton Lake tinkering in the garage, fishing, camping and playing cards. Retired as a Machine Repairman from Ford Motor Company. He adored his family time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, learning how to play golf and attending as many sports and dance recitals as possible. He loved spending time with his good friend, Peggy Michrina and winning as many card games as possible.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will take place in June 2024. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
