Rachel Martin's Obituary
Rachel Evelyn Patterson Martin, 94, of Jamestown, North Carolina died Monday, November 15, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born May 26, 1916 in Youngstown, OH, she was the daughter of the late Armstrong Patterson and Elizabeth Robertson.
She had been a resident of the High Point, North Carolina area for the last 24 years and was a member of Green Street Baptist Church. Prior to moving to High Point, North Carolina she was a resident of Detroit, MI. There she was a member of John R. Baptist Church and served in various ministries within the church including teaching Sunday School, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent, and participating in the scouting programs.
On December 4, 1935, she was married to Ellis Richard Martin who preceded her in death on October 6, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Chuck Martin and wife, Brenda, of High Point, North Carolina and Daniel E. Martin and wife, Valerie, of Brown City, MI; two daughters, Bonnie Parker and husband, Alan, of Ottawa, Canada, and Vickie Maynard and husband, Marvin, of Jamestown, North Carolian; a sister, Marjorie Hentz, of South Bend, IN; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Graveside service at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Michigan Monday 11:30 am. Arrangements locally by Hopcroft Funeral Home, Hazel Park, Michigan. Arrangements by Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, North Carolina.
