Paula Diane-Ketterer Bliss' Obituary
Paula Diane Ketterer Bliss
12/13/57 - 10/20/24
Paula Diane Ketterer Bliss of Madison Heights was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 20th after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at age 66. A servant of God, she lived life to the fullest and inspired those who met her to do the same. Paula had a generous heart and was always quick to help others and spread joy. Her favorite time of year was winter where she couldn’t wait to make a snow angel or go sledding, but above all else, she cherished playing Mrs. Claus at Christmas for special needs children.
A graduate of Fordson High School (‘76) and Henry Ford College (‘78), Paula had a successful career as a Legal Assistant and Paralegal at several local firms including Hewson & Van Hellemont, P.C. and Grover Lewis Johnson. In her free time you could find her working on her novel, making custom cards for friends and family, scrapbooking, or driving around town in search of the best deals at estate and garage sales. She took so much joy in supporting her son and grandchildren in all of their activities like hockey, theatre, and band. To know Paula was to know her love of Friends, red wine, coffee and dogs.
Awaiting her in heaven with open arms was her beloved and devoted husband Anthony Bliss, and loving parents Robert and Rita Ketterer. Paula leaves to cherish her memory her three sons to whom she was so proud of; Luke Shepherd (Becca Ruggerio) — who was her whole world — and stepsons Mark (Allie) Bliss and Christopher Bliss. Missing her are the joys of her life, grandchildren, Kaelyn, Arielle, and Alaric Bliss, and precious fur babies, Riley and Amber. With broken hearts, she is also survived by her siblings Cheryl (Gerald) Klement, Robert (Linda) Ketterer, and her bonus siblings by marriage Mike (Karen) Bliss, Anne Bliss, Bill Meadows, Joe (Karen) Bliss, Sue (Stan) Ciemerych, Christine (Cameron) Tallman, John (Mary) Bliss. Her treasured friend and niece, Jodi (Scott) Hagenbach, and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews who she loved. Joining in their grief are her adored partner James Canfield, cousin and wine buddy Elaine (Jeff) Roman, Laura and Glain Guilmette, Lisa and Bill Peasley, and so many other friends and family.
