Patricia Sue Clapper's Obituary
Obituary For Patricia Sue (Wilde) Clapper
Pat passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a short battle with Cancer, on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the age of 77.
Pat was born in Detroit on August 2, 1943 to Clyde T. Wilde and Omeda (Bruner) Cox, but spent her youth growing up in Tennessee, which was always apparent as she never lost her southern accent, even after living in Michigan for over 60 years of her life.
Pat spent her teenage years in Detroit where she met the love of her life, Gary, who she married at 18 years of age. As a young wife and mother, Pat moved with her husband and young family to Madison Heights, Michigan, where she lived for the rest of her life.
One of Pat’s great loves was reading. So much so, that she opened a bookstore, The Book Exchange in Royal Oak, Michigan. The book store gave Pat the opportunity to share her love of books with others throughout the late 1980’s and 1990’s.
In recent years Pat found her church home with New Beginnings General Baptist Church, where she loved working with the youth of the church and enjoyed working in the kitchen and providing coffee and snacks during Sunday School.
Pat loved to share her faith.
Pat was the cherished wife of Gary R. Clapper for 58 years, and loving mother of Debbie (David) Lengel of Lake Orion, Michigan, David (Crystal) Clapper of Warren, Michigan and Daniel (Stephanie) Clapper of Burlington, North Carolina.
Pat was also the adored grandmother of Patrick (Angelia) Clapper, Connie (Anthony) Cardillo, Lindsey Lengel, Dustin Clapper and Travis Clapper. Proud Great-Grandmother of Kierstin, Amberlynn, Lillyanne, Patrick Martin Jr., Damien and Aiden. Pat is survived by her Brother, William Cox and her Sisters in Law, Patsy Wilde, Shirley Byrom, Amber Hackett, and Sharon Bell, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several friends who will sadly miss her.
Pat is predeceased by her Parents Clyde T. and Margie (Tindell) Wilde, Bual and Omeda (Bruner) Cox, her Brother Lawrence Wilde and her Son Gary W. Clapper.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family suggests donations to New Beginnings General Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 1:00 pm until the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at New Beginnings General Baptist Church, 950 Gardenia Ave, Madison Heights, Michigan.
