Myrtle M. Nagel's Obituary
Myrtle Nagel, after 90 years of life on this Earth, passed away Tuesday, November 28th, 2017. “Myrt”, daughter of Edward and Irene Massie, was born March 31st 1927 in Lake Linden, Michigan, where she spent a vibrant childhood, upon which she would often reminisce with her loved ones. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Richard, first son Richard B. Nagel, daughter Rozanne Glass and siblings Lawrence Massie, Florence Pokornicki and Donald Massie.
Myrtle is survived by her children Suzanne (George) Filpansick, Gail Dunaway, Richard (Debbie) Nagel, Andrea Fields, Margaret (Jeff) Brehmer, Eric (Kathy) Nagel and Gary Glass (husband of late daughter) as well as her youngest brother Kenneth Massie. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle spent her adult life in the suburbs of Southeast Michigan, residing close to her family whom she dearly loved. She was a self-taught seamstress and upholsterer, having worked many years with Bob Dimitri on Main Street in Royal Oak. Her talent and skills as a “maker” were evident in the vast array of sewn goods she created for family and friends, taking great pride in her art form. She was a tireless worker, supporting her family for many years and always giving to those in need. A woman of devout conviction, her church was a pillar of pride in her life and she devoted much of her time to engaging in her close-knit community. She lovingly cared for her mother Irene until the end of her life and was never short on smiles and hugs for her family and friends.
Myrtle will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune to know her in this life.
Memorials services will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at Hopcroft Funeral Home in Madison Heights, from 10-12. Myrtle will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield with her husband and parents.
