Mike Gonzales Sr.'s Obituary
Mike Gonzales Sr., 93 of Madison Heights, Michigan passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024.
Mike was affectionately known as Grandpa Chea, Uncle Chea, Chi Chi, and Shorty to family and friends. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 31, 1930 to Fred and Eulalia Gonzales.
Mike was married to his sweetheart Celia for 71 years. Mike and Celia moved to Detroit in 1953 and then moved to Madison Heights in 1961. Mike retired from General Motors Fisher Body after 34 years.
Dearest Father to Miguel (Margie), Bernard (Maureen), Rudolph (Lyn), and Norma (Ronald) Norris. Grandfather to Mike III, David, Edward, Celina, Carrie Lyn, Tamara, Kathryn, Daniel, Adriana, and Stacey.  Mike had 19 Great Grandchildren.  Mike was preceded in death by his wife Celia, Grandson David and siblings Celia, Della, Fred, Salome, Manuel, Ralph, Edmund and Josephine.
Mike was a very generous man who helped take care of many.  Mike was a devout Catholic who made daily devotions to his Lord and Savior.  He was loved and respected by many.
Mike was a Jitterbug dancer who performed in Nightclubs during WWII to earn money. He was an avid golfer for many years, and loved playing his 3&4 Digit Lottery daily. He also loved music especially his Mexican Conjunto music as well as Jazz, Cajun and Country.
He will be greatly missed by many!
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, February 28th beginning at 10:30 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 50 E. Annabelle, Hazel Park, Michigan. Burial will be at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan.
