Mary will forever be remembered by her husband of 46 years, Gerald “Jerry” Perotti, their precious children Anthony (Jennifer) of Croswell, Michigan; Suzanne (Michael) Csizmadia of Spring, Texas; and Jennifer (John) Knuth of Portage, Michigan; by her brothers John Reichert, James (Charlotte) Reichert, by her cherished grandchildren, Kacee, Kiera, Tommy, Ryan, Mikey, AJ, RJ, and Grace, her three nephews and niece, and sister-in-law Kathryn Perotti. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Russell and Margaret Reichert, her brother, Thomas Reichert, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delfino and Donna Perotti and dear in-laws, Wade and Marilyn Carpenter.
Mary was born on September 2, 1950, in Detroit and was a 1968 graduate of Hazel Park High School. She worked for the Hazel Park Police Department and City of Hazel Park Public Works prior to General Motors in Warren as an Executive Administrative Assistant, retiring in 2008 after over 20 years.
Mary was a gifted seamstress, baker, and could be found spending warm summer days at home tending to her beautiful yard and flower gardens. An ardent supporter of the importance of education, Mary was extremely proud of her three children becoming college graduates. She spent all of her free time selflessly volunteering at St. Justin / St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Community of Hazel Park, where she was co-President of parish counsel and a life-long member. She also conducted regular rosary prayer services at American House in Hazel Park, and for numerous families in the area during funeral services of their loved ones. Mary was a beloved member of the community, touched the lives of many, was cherished by friends and family, and will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-9pm and Wednesday from 2-9pm with Rosary at 7pm, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights. On Thursday she will lie in state starting at 10:30am with Mass being said at 11am, at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Hazel Park.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor in lieu of flowers to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Fr. Solanus Casey Guild.
