Mary Lewis' Obituary
Mary T. Lewis, age 95 of Hazel Park, Michigan passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at her home. She was born Sunday, July 16, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan. Mary (the candy Lady) and her husband owned and operated the Corner Store at Harding and Tucker in Hazel Park. She also worked at the Hazel Park Bakery for many years. Mary is survived by her daughters; Geraldine O’Meara and Elsie (Frank) Merrifield and her sons; Dennis (Kathy) and Frederick (Peggy). Mother-in-law of Larry Szymanski. She is also survived by a Brother-in-law, Marvin “Buddy” Lewis and Sisters-in-law, Charlene Lewis, Barbara Chociemski and Stella Chociemski. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will miss her beautiful smile. She is pre deceased by her husband, Hershel “Fred”; a daughter, Mary “Cookie” Szymanski; a granddaughter, Michelle Szymanski, grandson, Allen B. Smith and her son-in-law, Ed O’Meara. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 23919 John R. Road, Hazel Park, Michigan. The Funeral will be on Wednesday, May 16 at 9:30 am Instate/Visitation followed by the 10:00 am Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Hazel Park, Michigan. Entombment at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Michigan. Memorials to William Beaumont Hospital Geriatric Clinic or Beaumont Hospice.
