Mary Dolores Gilbert, age 91 of Ferndale, Michigan passed away April 17, 2015 in Centerline, Michigan. She was born April 14, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan.
Beloved Wife of the late John Gilbert (2006). Dear Mother of Claudia (the late Daniel) Champagne, Laura Weatherell, and Virginia (David) Beasley. Loving Grandmother of Amy Weatherell (who was also her special caregiver), Joshua Champagne, Andrea Champagne and Rachel Champagne. Sister of the late Virginia Thibodeau. Also survived by Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
Mary served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Back home, Mary worked as an Inspector in the Carbide Manufacturing Industry.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19th from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Monday, April 20th from 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, Madison Heights Chapel. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 21st at 10:30 am Instate followed by the 11:00 am Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Hazel Park, Michigan. Entombment to take place at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, Michigan.
