Marie Minnie Vilders' Obituary
Marie Minnie (Birr) Vilders died August 9, 2016 in Rye, New Hampshire. She was born June 18, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. Married right after WWII to Richard Wilders and she had four sons: Rick, Bruce, Kurt and Neil and nine grandchildren. The family home was in Berkley, Mich. Preceded in death by Richard and Rick. Mom was dedicated to her sons, spending as much time with them as they needed to grow and prosper. She was a child of the depression and of the war. Marie was proud that her husband had been a tail-gunner in a B-17, stationed in England and flying twenty combat missions. She gave back with her involvement in the American Legion Post(s) both in Berkley and Traverse City. Marie was a self-taught seamstress making clothing, costumes, quilts and fixing our torn bluejeans. She was a strong-willed woman who had survived much in her long life. She is missed already. Visitation Monday, August 15 from 10 am to 1 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home,. 31145 John R Road, Madison Heights (one block north of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R Road). Burial at at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley at 2 pm..
