Madison Marie Wakeford's Obituary
Madison Marie Wakeford, age 24 of Hazel Park, Michigan passed away on May 18, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 9, 2000 in Southfield, Michigan.
Beloved daughter of Bryan and Katrina Pirkola-Wakeford. Loving sister of Kara (Ervin) and Nickolas (Fox). Granddaughter of Mary and the late Terry Pirkola and Karen and the late Alan Wakeford. Madison is survived by her cousin, Cailen. Aunt of Elias, Eleanor, and Vin.
Madison, lovingly known as “Sunny-Day,” and “Madi-Boo” brought light and warmth to every life she touched. Her nickname wasn’t just a name—it was a reflection of her spirit. From the time she was a little girl, Madison took care of everyone around her. She carried a gentle strength and deep compassion that made people feel safe, seen, and loved.
She had a natural talent for nurturing—whether it was through her baking, where desserts became expressions of love, or in the garden, where her hands helped beauty grow. Madison found peace in tending to flowers and always said she didn’t mind gardening because she was still learning. That quiet humility and constant curiosity defined the way she lived: always growing, always giving.
The children in her life—her nieces and nephews—adored her. She treated them with respect, listened to their little voices, and celebrated their worlds as if they were her own. Living with them brought her joy, and she gave them the gift of unconditional love in return.
Birds became a new fascination for Madison. She loved spotting different species, discovering ones she hadn’t noticed before, and sharing those little wonders with her family and friends. That’s who she was—someone who paid attention to life’s small beauties and found joy in sharing them.
A gifted artist, Madison taught herself to crochet and poured her heart into every piece she made. Her creativity knew no bounds—she painted, drew, played with chalk, and turned makeup and special effects into moving works of art. Whether it was hair, color, texture, or design, anything she touched was transformed into something meaningful and beautiful.
She had a great sense of humor—sharp, bold, and often laced with a little mischief. Even when she was mad about something (and she usually was!), you always knew she had your back. That fierce loyalty, that unwavering love, is something we’ll never forget.
Madison was a light in our lives—a fierce, funny, endlessly creative soul who loved deeply and lived wholeheartedly. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her in their hearts, a home that will always echo with her laughter, and a world made more beautiful because she was in it.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
