Lois Ann Wiggins' Obituary
Lois Ann (Hampton) Wiggins was born in Highland Park, Michigan, December 15, 1958. She was the third child and only daughter of Granville and Helen (Grice) Hampton. She lived her early life with her family in Hazel Park and attended Hazel Park schools, graduating from the high school in 1977. She attended the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee for one year.
Lois married Donald C. Wiggins in 1983; they celebrated their 40th anniversary in June with a week-long trip to St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula. Lois retired in 2022 from a 14-year career as an administrative assistant with Community Housing Network in Troy.
St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Madison Heights was where Lois chose to make her church home. There she assisted with the music program and choir, and became a licensed lay preacher, delivering the Sunday sermon from time to time. Lois was an excellent singer. She also enjoyed watching TV & watching movies with Don. She enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, the Lions, and especially Michigan football. Most of all, though, she loved dogs, in particular their 8-year-old miniature Australian Shepherd, “Charity.”
Health problems besieged Lois for most of her adult life. She succumbed to kidney and heart issues after a lengthy stay at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, November 2, 2023.
Lois is survived by her loving husband Don, her mother, Helen Hampton, her three brothers: Keith, Harold and Earl, sisters-in-law Cynthia and Rebecca, plus a number of nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Lois’s funeral will be at St. Patrick’s at 1:00 PM Friday, November 10th, followed by cremation and preceded by visitation at the Hopcroft Funeral Home from 7-9PM Thursday November 9th.
