Leon Namen Rodgers' Obituary
Leon Namen Rodgers, age 82 of Ferndale, Michigan passed away on May 24, 2014 at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. He was born on May 22, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 58 years who he called “Cill”, Girtha Lucille Rodgers. Four surviving children; Leola of Syracuse, NY; Lyle (Lorine); Kenny and Maurice (Catherine) of Ferndale, MI. He is pre-deceased by his son, Sylvester. He was always surrounded by his loving grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer); Latasha (Ryan); Lauren; Ramos (Felisha); Ryan (Taylor); Antwain; Eric G.; and great-grandchildren; Deionte, Daija, Rai, Nathan and Andrew. He loved children so much that many called him Grandpa including Little Ty, Dina, Marquis, David, Sheryl, Dalton, Marty, Carlos and Greg. Leon is remembered affectionately by five sisiter-in-laws, one brother-in-law, their spouses and children.
His family and friends will always remember that he loved all sports, his matter of fact and common sense advice about life and living. Leon believed in many things but especially taking care of his family and just being with his children and grandchildren, seeing that they were prosperous and healthy. He was of a simpler time and generation, “Roof over your head, clothes on your back and food in your belly”. He loved the outdoors just sitting on the porch with his coffee, feeding the birds or the squirrels. He was a good man who led a good life.
