Leo Pyonk's Obituary
Leo Pyonk, age 75 of Sterling Heights, MI formerly of Madison Heights, MI passed away on December 16, 2022 at Ascension St John’s Macomb. He was born May 21, 1947 in Detroit, MI.
Beloved husband to the late Marie (Hansen/Rajala) Pyonk. They were married on May 10th 1975 at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Park, MI. Dear father to Rebecca Ann (Josh) Humphreys of Hazel Park. Grandfather of John Edwin and Josephine Kenmuir, and Jhon Gebbink. Great Grandfather of Brandon Lee Humphreys. Brother to Rose Zakrzewski of Taylor MI, Cammy (Larry) Krist of Dearborn Heights MI. Also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews as well as a very extended family of closest friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Clara (Kubinski) Pyonk. Brother’s Casmier, Irvin, and Jerome Pyonk.
Leo served his country as a Sgt in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, where he worked with substation operations. He was stationed over in Aviono, Italy, and at that time he would play Santa Claus for the local orphanage. After an honorable discharge he began working for Blue Cross Blue Shield of MI where he worked maintenance for a number of years.
Some of Leo’s most favorite past times were when he was doing carpentry creating so many amazing pieces of furniture for his family, as well as the well known old time milk truck that he built for Rebecca’s 4th birthday. He loved all his family, and was most proud of his grandchildren and great grandson. A friend to all, Leo would do what he could to always help someone out.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
