Lee Ruth Stevens, age 89 of Madison Heights, Michigan peacefully passed away on July 26, 2023 at home surrounded by loving family. She was born on August 30, 1933 in Freeburn, Kentucky to Adron and Ida Hamilton and was one of 7 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Stevens. Beloved sister of Barbara Akins, Joan Vagott, Boots Preston, Linda Blankenship, Paul Thomas Hamilton, and predeceased by Robert Hamilton.
Lee Ruth was known for her hard work, and spent many years working at Sanders Chocolate Factory where she famously learned how to read the swirls on all the chocolates, so none of her family and friends ever had to guess which piece they’d be selecting from the candy box. Lee Ruth was a woman of great faith. She knew a life well-lived did not have to be a perfect path, just one filled with hope, strength and lots of laughter.
Above all, Lee Ruth fiercely loved her family. Whether you called her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma Lee, Aunt Lee, sister or friend, her love and devotion meant you were part of something wonderful.
