Lawrence Edward Phillips' Obituary
Lawrence “Edward” Phillips, age 95, of Hazel Park Michigan, passed away at his home on Friday, August 30, 2019.
He leaves behind a daughter Laura Phillips and her wife Irene; his brother Sherman Phillips; his grandchildren Rita Collins and her husband Christopher, Eric Phillips and his wife Shannan, Aron Phillips and his wife Gerri; his great grandchildren, Kristopher, Jessica, Anastasia, David, Elizabeth, Alexander and Nathaniel; and four great-great grandchildren Marcus, Logan, Lillia, and Katherine.
He was born on September 14, 1923 in Madison County Alabama to the late Henry Washington and Susie Elizabeth Whitworth Phillips.
He moved to Michigan in the 1950s looking for a better life for his family. After working in different types of industries he found employment with Chrysler Corporation where he worked as a press operator until he retired in December of 1998. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Phillips; brothers, James Henry, Alton, Clyde Junior, Raymond, and Billy Ray; sisters Lula Mae, Louise, Maggie B., and Pauline.
Mr. Phillips enjoyed woodworking, string art, giving to charities, working on his property and spending time with family. Mr. Phillips passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and love on August 30, 2019.
Services will be held on September 4, 2019 at Roseland Park Cemetery in the Chapel of Resurrection at 1 pm.
