Kenneth Wayne Burgess' Obituary
In the loving memory of Kenneth Wayne Burgess, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Kenneth passed away on December 10th, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving children. He was the cherished husband of the late Donna Burgess, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Kenneth was born in Warren, MI on August 4th, 1941, and attended Fitzgerald High School, where he was an all-sport lettered athlete and due to his strong athleticism in baseball was scouted by various colleges.
Ken attended trade school and was a certified Rigger and Machinery Mover/Ironworker for many years and ultimately used his training, knowledge, and skills to become an apprentice instructor under Local 25, where he mentored many coming into the field. Ken was a highly respected skilled tradesman and recently received acknowledgment for being in the Local 25 Ironworkers union for 60 years.
Ken loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He took loving care of his wife before she passed away a few years ago. He was a role model for his grandchildren, and they loved him so much. His dog Princess was always by his side. He was liked by all who knew him due to his friendly and outgoing personality. Ken will be missed immensely as he was the heart of his family, always willing to lend a hand, listen and give advice, and offer loving support in times of need. He was a generous and thoughtful man who donated to several charities throughout his lifetime. Ken loved sports, especially football and baseball, and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his son, Stephen, his daughter, Kristi Jaworski (Thomas), and his beloved grandchildren, David and Krista Burgess, and Brittany, Braden, and Brooke Jaworski. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Deel (Cliff) and other family members whom he loved dearly. Ken’s warm presence and loving nature will be so deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21st, from 1-5 PM with a service at 5 PM at Hopcroft Funeral Home in Madison Heights, MI.
