Judith Kay Simpson's Obituary
Judith Kay Simpson, "Judy" of Madison Heights, Michigan, a former resident of Royal Oak and Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 19, 2023, due to complications from heart and lung disease, surrounded by family. She was 80 years old. Judy was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on March 23, 1943 to Arlie and Ann Rodgers.
Beloved wife of Hugh Simpson. Loving mother of Shari (Martin) Simpson-Guarino and Douglas (Kim) Simpson. She is pre-deceased by her son, Ronald Simpson, who passed away on September 16, 2022. Cherished Grandmother of Beth Ann Simpson, Justin Brown, Brittany Brown, Joseph Guarino, Gabrielle Guarino, Shelby Simpson, and Zachary Simpson. Great-grandmother of Elijah, Emmalyn, Emerson, and Elliott Brown. Sister of Sharon Mariconda.
Her family moved to Detroit, MI, when she was young, looking for a "better life". She met the love of her life, Hugh, in Detroit. They married quite young, Judy was 15 and Hugh was 17. They raised their 3 children and had their "better life" in the suburbs. Judy worked part time at William Beaumont Hospital and made many lifelong friends. She volunteered at the RO Boy’s Club and the Madison Heights Nature Center, baking cupcakes for birthday parties and letting snakes crawl up her arms. Judy was an exceptional human being. A great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend as well as a fabulous baker and homemaker. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and everyone around her. She never forgot anyone’s birthday and loved her garden. Judy will be deeply missed!
Family and friends will celebrate her life at a private event.
Memorial Donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
