Joyce Audrey Steffke's Obituary
Joyce Audrey (Dietz) Steffke a lifelong resident of Hazel Park, MI passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016, following a prolonged illness. She will be greatly missed by her entire loving family.
Joyce was born July 9, 1929, in Hazel Park, Michigan to Earl and Ida Dietz. She moved to Spokane, WA in 2011 due to deteriorating health issues to be cared for by her daughters.
She worked outside the home at the Hazel Park Race Track for many years in food services until her retirement. She loved going to yard sales with her two sisters Juanita and Connie who were also her best friends. More than anything she enjoyed going to the Casino to play the slots! Her favorite game was Little Piggy’s. Although, she donated more than she won, it gave her great pleasure to play and dream of winning the big jackpot someday.
Sadly, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Steffke Jr. in 1978 and her dear sister Eileen in 1988. She is survived by her six children, Darlene (Bob) Shoaff, Karen (Johnny) Malone, Gary (Pat) Steffke, Daniel Steffke, Jeannine Pharis, and Kathy (Clyde) Hill; and, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Juanita (Dick) Hawley, Donald (Jean) Dietz, Connie (Stan) Kolaski, and her Godson Todd Fisher, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Hopcroft Funeral Home in Madison Heights, Mi, at 10:00 a.m. on October 1, 2016. Interment will be at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy Mi, followed by a reception at 1:00 p.m. at the Hazel Park Eagles banquet room.
