Joy Dean Lester's Obituary
Joy Dean Lester, age 86 of Madison Heights, Michigan passed away on July 31, 2019 at her home. She was born at home on December 29, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio to John and Opal Jones.
She was the loving wife of the late Robert Francis Lester (passed on July 16, 2015) whom she married on April 7, 1956 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Hazel Park, Michigan. They spent 59 years together. Dear mother of Candy, Robert, Michael and the late Allen (passed away in May 2013). Grandmother of 11 and Great-Grandmother of 17. Sister of Jack Jones of Florida and pre-deceased by a brother and a sister.
Robert “Bob” and Joy took annual car trips to Florida with their children to see her parents for 2-3 weeks. She cherished those family trips each summer. She was a Baptist. An animal lover and had many dogs throughout the years. She adored her current dog, Bosco. She spoiled him and feed him chicken every day.
Joy enjoyed taking care of her heart shaped flower bed and the hanging flower baskets in her back yard. Her yard always looked nice. She enjoyed watching spooking movies and loved decorating for all of the holidays.
Joy loved spending time with her family. She always made sure she had food and drinks in her home and always offered them to anyone that would visit her. She always waited at the front door when anyone left her house. She would wave and wait at the door so she could watch everyone drive away.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan.
