John Russell Reichert's Obituary
John Russell Reichert was born April 12, 1957 to Russell Anthony Reichert and Margaret "Peggy" Ann Reichert at Providence Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was a longtime resident of Hazel Park, Michigan until he recently retired to Fountain, Michigan where he enjoyed the remainder of his days with his beloved dogs Ozzie and Peanut. John passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2024 at home.
John graduated in 1975 from Hazel Park High School where he was a proud member of the band. He had various jobs throughout his lifetime from Tele sales where he was a super salesman, to his last as an assistant for a tax accounting firm. His hobbies included watching Detroit sports teams and college football, telling tales of long ago, (especially the ones that were true and hilarious), and crossword puzzles which he completed while answering all the questions on Jeopardy, correctly. He liked to refer to himself as a fountain of useless knowledge and that was an understatement. However, his most treasured activity was spending time with his family, who will eternally miss his presence, jokes, sarcasm, and hospitable personality.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Margaret and siblings, good friend and older brother Thomas Reichert, and his precious sister Mary Perotti.
He is survived by his best friend and younger brother James (Charlotte) Reichert, and favorite brother-in-law Gerald Perotti.
Beloved daughter, Jessica Vos. Cherished grandchildren, Robert (Samantha) Allen, Katelyn Allen, Andrew Allen, Jonathan (Mackenzie) Allen. Treasured great-grandchildren, Helen Allen and Westin Allen. Nieces, Suzanne (Mike) Csizmadia, and Jennifer (John) Knuth. Nephews, Anthony (Jennifer) Perotti, and Brian (Tressa) Reichert. Great-nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Kacee, Kiera, Tommy, Ryan, Mikey, AJ, RJ, and Grace.
On July 20, 2024, he will lie instate starting at 10:30am with Mass being said at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, located at 50 E Annabelle Ave, Hazel Park, MI 48030.
