Joanne Faye Darcy's Obituary
Joanne Faye (Roose) Darcy was called home by our LORD on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
Born May 1, 1932 to Bernice and Friend Dewey Roose in Belding, MI, she was one of 4 children .
She was predeceased by both parents, brother John and sisters Marilyn and Carol/Merlin.
She spent her early days in Hazel Park, MI and moved during her teen years to Madison Heights, MI. Her father built their home there in his spare time after working his shift at the Chevrolet Plant.
They moved in before the inside was even completed as they had to leave their previous home which had been sold.
She went away to Bible College, planning to become a teacher, and received 2 years of schooling before she had to return home upon the death of her beloved father.
After a brief stint working at Westinghouse she was able to get employment at Ford Tractor due to kind words given to the hiring staff by her sister-in-law Shirley. She remained at Ford Tractor until she retired at age 55.
She met her husband Samuel through her church and they married in 1971. Upon his death she joined the Sonshine Travel Club and discovered a passion for travel, lighthouses and made many new friends during her journeys.
A member of ROC, formerly Royal Oak Missionary Church, for many years, she considered it an extension of her family, and participated eagerly in every event and occasion offered by her church.
She is survived by nieces Vicki/Mark, Karen, Terri/Phil, Susie/Ted, Donna, Jan/Carlton, Kim/Mike, Mary/Brent and Jen/Dan, and nephew John/Patty and sister-in-law Shirley. And an abundance of great and great-great nieces and nephews. She touched and blessed many lives, she will be missed by all!
