Janice Kay Fox's Obituary
Janice Kay Fox, age 87, of Madison Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday February 24, 2025, at Windemere Park Health & Rehab Center in Warren, Michigan.
She was born on April 19, 1938 to Anita & Walter Chmielewski of Saginaw, Michigan. Janice graduated from Saginaw High School in 1956.
Janice worked a variety of jobs. She started working at an insurance agency in Saginaw where she met her husband, Gene. They married in September 1962 and had two children, Steven and Julie. In 1973, the family moved to Madison Heights, Michigan. Besides being a stay-at-home mom, she worked as a retail clerk at a drapery store in what used to be Universal Mall in Warren, MI., and then later worked a few years at Macy’s Department store at Oakland Mall. Janice also sold Avon products to their neighbors and friends.
Janice is survived by her beloved children: Steve (Loyd Paul Nagao) Fox and Julie (Ted) McGinley and by her two grandchildren: Claire and Jacob McGinley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Edward Fox.
She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments and felt that one of life’s greatest joys was being a wife, mother and Nana.
Janice’s late husband Gene enjoyed gardening and together they canned much of what they grew in their small backyard garden. They canned tomatoes, beans and pickles to name a few things. She also loved baking, making zucchini bread from the zucchini that were grown, or having the grandkids over around Christmas time to make and decorate sugar cookies. She also loved to cross-stitch and crochet. Janice would crochet scarves in a variety of colors and patterns while Gene would hand knit sweaters and together they would sell their items at local craft shows.
