James "Jay" Crawford, age 94 of Ferndale for 73 years, passed away October 8, 2017, at his home. He was born September 14, 1923, in Kentucky, to Bryan and Lounettie Crawford.
Beloved husband of Monica for 73 years, they were married on June 21, 1944, in Hazel Park.
Dear father of Judith (Dennis) Klender, Terry (Beth) Crawford, and Michael (Mary) Crawford.
Loving grandfather of Guy and Amy Klender, Matthew, Michael, Mackenzi, and Ethan Crawford, Patrick Cloke and Christina (John) Springer, and great grandfather of Rhea and Baylie.
Brother of Elizabeth Mendenhall and the late Vernon Crawford.
He was a member of the Metro Carvers of Michigan and The Carpenters Union for many years. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed family festivities, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spending time at the casino.
Visitation Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, with a Scripture Service at 7:00pm, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 23919 John R. Road, Hazel Park. Funeral services Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, 10:30am instate, followed by Mass at 11:00am, at St. Justin Catholic Church, Hazel Park. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Memorial donations may be made to Season Hospice of Madison Heights (envelopes available at the funeral home) or St. Justin Church.
