James Owen Jacobs, Sr., loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Dec. 25, 2009 at age 77. An Army Veteran, he received a Purple Heart during service in the Korean Conflict. He was a builder of homes, garages and additions in the Greater Detroit Area for the past 40 years. James was a gentleman farmer who owned a country store, 2 saw mills, raised cattle and horses. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. James was born May 31, 1932, in Swifton, Ark. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Allice Louise Jacobs; his three sons, James Owen (Barbara) of Thompson, ND, Earl James Jacobs of Judsonia, Ark., and John Kyle Jacobs of Lubbock, TX. James leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Catrina, Patricia, Amanda, Pamela, Anna, Savanna, Kaleb and Kyle and his sister Katherine Norris. Visitation will be Sunday 3-9 PM, with funeral Monday 11:00 AM, at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 23919 John R. Road, Hazel Park. Burial in Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley.
