James Douglas Hellenberg's Obituary
Jim went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 7, 2022 after a brave fight with cancer. Born in Detroit to Donald E. Hellenberg and Doris I. nee Schwartz. Predeceased by his wife Lola Kaye nee Barton, sister Diane Jones and brother Gregory surviving sister-in-law (Kathleen). Survived by sisters: Cathy (John) Hunley and Linda (George) Crabb. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
For 45 years Jim worked at DST Industries (Dearborn Steele Tubing) and then later at Tedson Industries till retirement. He did numerous jobs from: trucking driving, prototyping and fabrication to name a few. He was well liked and respected by everyone and is remembered for his dry sense of humor and quips. After retirement he enjoyed bowling, watching freighters and genealogy.
Jim served in the US Navy from 1965-1967 and will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 12th at 11:00 am at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan.
