Howard Raymond Simmons, age 88, of Madison Heights passed away on October 7, 2010. He was born December 25, 1921 in Allegheny Highland, Virginia. He was a former reserve police officer in Madison Heights and an Oakland County Commissioner and served in the merchant marine during WWII. He belonged to Royal Oak Masonic Lodge 464 and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Beloved husband of Dixie for 52 years. Dearest father of Howard (Debra), Dean, Marty (Brian) Hutnick, Michael (Roseanne), Kim (Norm) Barman, David (Brenda), Bonnie (Sam) Myner, Mitchell, and Bryan. Proud grandfather of Adam, Amy, Austin, Melissa, Katelynn, Matthew, Emily, Zoey, Carrie, Blake, Michael, Mickie, Sean, Chase, and Samuel. Brother of Louis (Kay), Deanie (Bonner) Arrington, and Barbara (Don) Roy. He is predeceased by his son Doug. Visitation Tuesday, 3-9 pm, with the funeral service Wednesday at 11 am, at the Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, Madison Heights. Burial in Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills, Michigan.
