Homer Conner Jr.'s Obituary
Homer Conner Jr., 84, of Madison Heights, Michigan, went to be with his Lord in the early hours of April 17th. He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Rachel Conner, his siblings Joyce, Tommy, Katie, Howard and Effie and his great-granddaughter, Kimber. He is survived by his sister Lena and many beloved nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his beloved wife and sweetheart, Alice Conner and their four loving sons, Steven (Stephanie), Shannon (Juanita), Shane (Kim) and Shawn (Elaina). He was loved by his grandchildren Stevie, Valerie, Emily, Jimmy, Nate, Caleb, Luke, Philip, Noah, Katie, Ellen, Erin, John, Jessica, Jacob, Maribeth, Ryan, Nick, Ashley, Aiden, Claire, Megan, Kaitlin, Brendan, Hailey and Allison and his great-grandchildren Micah, Naima, Remington, Uriah, Logan, Andrew, Cooper, Josie, Benaiah, Silas, Leeland, Thea, Garrett, Maggie, Violett, Amelia, Henry, June, Emma, Owen, Quinn, Samuel, James and Braxton.
Homer was born in Morrow, Ohio June 5th, 1939 and moved to Richmond, Kentucky as a teenager where he became a Kentucky sports super-fan. He served his country in the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry, Rank E-4 from 1958 to 1961 when he was honorably discharged. Homer and Alice moved to Madison Heights, Michigan where they raised their children and watched their family grow. The sweethearts celebrated 66 years of marriage in March.
Those who knew Homer will tell you how much he loved going to breakfast with Alice, garage sale shopping, finding and fixing watches, playing with his dog, telling jokes and spending time with his family he was so proud of. It is a joy to know he was welcomed Home with “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 21st from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Hopcroft Funeral Home, 31145 John R. Road, (1 block N. of 13 Mile Road, west side of John R. Road), Madison Heights, Michigan. The Funeral will be held on Monday, April 22nd beginning at 9:30 am (Instate) and followed by the 11:00 am Service at the Free Will Baptist Church, 302 E. 13 Mile Road, Madison Heights, Michigan. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
