Harold.. Many people say someone was like a dad to them, but Harold was a dad to me. Ive known him roughly 17 years and he was truly a kind, generous, unique soul. He loved his family, his country, God and those close to him.
Harold had this infectious laughter that only he could possess, it was so unique that it just made everyone around him laugh or laugh harder. Many times in our youth he was the butt of our jokes, but he didnt care he would just laugh right along with us, call us some names and tell us to go home. Which he never really meant.
Harold was kind and generous, never once yelling at me for the amount of food id eat at his house. Allowing us to make the dumb mistakes kids make and helping us learn from it. But no matter what you knew Harold cared. He welcomed all of Matt, Kevin and Chris's friends into the house and made us feel like his own kids, good or bad. He didnt judge anyone, but accepted all as children of Christ.
He always had a kooky story to tell about anything and everything, many times when he was done you just sat there scratching your head, laughing a little bit and often he was laughing right along with you.. But he loved having someone to listen to him, and sometimes he had some wise words to say that you didnt expect.
I remember when I told Harold I was joining the military, he was as excited and proud as my own family was, and even more so when Kevin joined. Though Harold only served for a short time, I have no doubt he served honorably, faithfully, and with love.
We gave Harold hell growing up, and he took it all in stride... Heck I think he may have even enjoyed it a little bit. It was definitely a love-hate relationship. He loved hating us, and we hated loving him...
My family's thoughts and prayers go out to Dawn, Matt, Kevin, Chris and all of Harold's family and friends during this time of grieving.
Harold, I love and miss you big guy.
Till Valhalla
